What is Galen Myotherapy?

Galen Myotherapy involves specialised massage techniques and exercise rehabilitation therapy. It can be used to help improve musculoskeletal health, to support dogs with chronic conditions and can be utilised within conditioning and fitness programmes.

As Galen Myotherapists, we offer a unique choice-lead treatment methodology called Positive PACT
®. This means that your dog will always be able to opt in and out of treatment, making them an active participant in their session.

Alongside treatment, we assess your dog's gait (movement) and posture to help identify any areas of pain, weakness or dysfunction. The Galen Comfort Scale
© is used to identify, assess and monitor comfort. And, we are here to support you and your dog, offering guidance and advice when managing chronic conditions.

What Can Galen Myotherapy Help with?

Galen myotherapy can be used to target chronic myofascial discomfort and pain. By addressing compensatory gait and postural changes we can help avoid further soft tissue discomfort. Identifying these changes early can help prevent muscle imbalances and can form part of a proactive management approach, leading to life long improvements in function, capability and quality of life.

There are many conditions which Galen Myotherapy can help with;

Case Study

Check out this wonderful case study with Bella. After 3 Galen Myotherapy sessions, you can see changes in her posture. Another exciting improvement was the difference in her coat appearance! Chronic pain and the subsequent changes to the tension within fascia beneath the skin can have a direct impact on a dog's coat pattern. This is because as the skin tightens, it can alter the direction, angle and texture of the hair follicles, leading to flicks, swirls and other patterns.
